!Gauri Kund Gauri Kund is near Kedarnath in Uttarakhand state of India. The water of this pond is warm and of the colour of lead oxide (Sindur), considered to be a holy powder applied on the head by married women in India. It is believed that the goddess Parvati had performed ritusnan (a ritual of taking bath on the fourth day of menstruation). It is also believed to be the place of birth of Lord Ganesh. Gaurishankar Lingam of Lord Shiv is there in a temple. The water and the soil is considered holy and auspicious.
