Adhirath was the name of a charioteer, the foster-father of Karn.

According the story in the Mahabharat, the great Indian epic composed by the sage Vyas, Adhirath found a baby boy in a basket on the banks of the Ganges.

He had no child, and therefore, he and his wife Radha happily adopted the child as their own.

This child was known as Karn.
